How to install Heeet for Attio

‍

Heeet for Attio: setup guide

The Heeet app writes each prospect’s marketing journey into your Attio workspace, so you can see which campaigns, channels and pages led to every person and deal. Setup takes four steps.

What the app does

Where What Heeet adds
Campaigns One record per utm_campaign, linked to the people, companies and deals it influenced
Marketing & sales influences One record per attributed touchpoint, with its campaign, position, weight and revenue
Content influences One record per page a prospect viewed
People, Companies, Deals The heeet_data attribute, journey rollups and a Heeet journey tab

‍

Before you start

You need:

  • A Heeet account with access to API > Secret key.
  • An Attio workspace where you can install apps.
  • The Heeet JavaScript tag on your website. See JavaScript SDK installation.
  • Website forms that create People records in Attio, through a form tool integration, Zapier, Make or the Attio API.

1. Install the Attio package in Heeet

The Attio package tells Heeet to send campaigns and journeys to Attio. Without it, nothing reaches your workspace.

  1. Log in to your Heeet account.
  2. Install the Attio package.
  3. Go to API > Secret key and copy the key. You’ll paste it into Attio in step 2.

2. Connect your Attio workspace

  1. Install the Heeet app from the Attio Marketplace into your workspace.
  2. In Attio, go to Workspace settings → Apps → Heeet.
  3. Paste your Heeet secret key into the Workspace connection.
  4. Choose your attribution model and campaign currency. Set the currency before the next step: it is fixed once the money fields are created.
  5. Press Install. This creates the Campaigns, Marketing & sales influences and Content influences objects, adds heeet_data and the journey rollups to People, Companies and Deals, and subscribes the app to record changes. Install only creates what’s missing, so you can run it again at any time.
  6. Back in Heeet, point your CRM integration at the heeet_data attribute on People.

3. Pass heeet_data into People

Heeet builds each journey from the heeet_data value on the People record, so every form that creates People must carry it.

  1. Check that the Heeet JavaScript tag loads on every page with a form.
  2. Add a hidden field named heeet_data to each form. The tag fills it with the visitor’s journey when the form is submitted.
  3. In whatever creates People from your forms (form tool integration, Zapier, Make or the Attio API), map the heeet_data field to the heeet_data attribute on People.

The tag can’t fill forms embedded in a cross-origin iframe.

4. Check that data is arriving in Attio

Run one test submission and follow it through People, Campaigns, Companies and Deals.

  1. Open your website with a tagged URL, for example ?utm_source=test&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=attio_test, and submit a form with a work email address. Public domains like gmail.com aren’t linked to a company, so the Company rollups won’t fill.
  2. In Attio, open the new People record and check that heeet_data is filled.
  3. Open the Heeet journey tab on that record. It lists every touchpoint with its channel, campaign and position (First, Intermediary, Last), plus every page the prospect viewed.
  4. Open Campaigns and check that a record named attio_test exists and lists the test person on its Members tab.
  5. Open the person’s company and check that its journey rollups include the new touchpoints.
  6. Create a deal, link the test person and their company, and set a deal value. The deal’s Heeet journey tab should fill, with each touchpoint’s share of the deal value.

Troubleshooting

What you see What to check
heeet_data is empty on the People record The form isn’t passing the value. Check that the Heeet tag loads on the page, that the hidden field is named heeet_data, and that your form-to-Attio mapping includes it.
heeet_data is filled but the Heeet journey tab is empty Check that the secret key is set in the Workspace connection, press Install again, and confirm step 2.6 in Heeet.
No Campaign records in Attio Check that the Attio package is installed in your Heeet account (step 1).
One campaign split into several records Campaigns are matched on utm_campaign. Use the same value, with the same spelling and case, across all your links.
Deal influences show no amounts The deal has no value. Influences on deals without a value are still linked, just without amounts.
